Natty’s Jerk Kitchen – Fire Suppression System

Natty’s Jerk Kitchen is a new Jamaican restaurant opening its doors next to the Hilton Hotel in the heart of Bournemouth. Known for its vibrant, bold flavours and flame-grilled cooking style, the restaurant’s kitchen features a mix of high-heat appliances, including fryers, grills, and extract system.

With the restaurant preparing to open in a high-footfall location, fire safety was a key part of the fit-out process. Axis Fire Sprinklers was appointed to deliver a complete kitchen fire suppression solution – from design and installation through to final commissioning – ensuring the kitchen met all relevant safety standards and was ready for operation from day one.

Axis Sprinklers provided a turnkey fire suppression system tailored specifically to Natty’s kitchen setup, comprising of Jactone’s PAFSS KitchenGuard fire suppression units. The system was designed in accordance with the latest manufacturer guidelines and in full compliance with LPS 1223 certification requirements.

System Coverage Included:

• Deep-fat Fryers

• Panini Grills

• Full extract ductwork and hood canopy

All risk areas were assessed, and nozzles were installed to cover high-risk zones, as well as within the extract ducting where fire spread is most likely to occur. In the event of a fire, the system can automatically suppress flames while simultaneously cutting power or gas to the affected appliances – preventing escalation and allowing safe evacuation or re-entry.

Included within the install:

• Automatic detection and suppression

• Manual activation point, as required under LPS 1223

• Integrated heat source shutdown, linked to the system’s activation

• Pressure switch for optional connection to alarms or additional safety systems

The system was installed on schedule and commissioned successfully, ready in time for final kitchen sign-off and opening preparations. Natty’s Jerk Kitchen now benefits from a compliant, fully operational fire suppression system, giving the owners peace of mind and meeting all insurance and regulatory requirements.
